Dogs have been used by humans for most of our history, beginning as working protectors and hunters and evolving in current times into dear companions that are lavished with love and affection.
We still use dogs for hunting, and protection purposes, but we also show them off in the show ring and have fun with them in competitions such as dock diving – fun for humans and dogs!
Many breeds of dog are capable of extensive learning for a number of tasks, and we now have dogs that are trained by credentialed agencies to provide a variety of services to humans – guide dogs for the vision and hearing impaired, seizure alert, search and rescue, drug and bomb detection and even emotional therapy.
Mellowdea Kennels is pleased that our dogs, in addition to being show champions, have earned certifications in dock diving, personal protection, drug detection, medic alert, and aiding autistic children.
