Heidi says – “we do an hour of actual training, mostly at Olaf Farms, but of course we also have homework.  We also do things like going to watch NAVHDA trials at the Iroquois and Tonawanda game preserves.”

Mellowdea Kennels “Segar” spent his weekend being evaluated for North American Versatile Hunting Dog Association (NAVHDA) training, and did exceptionally well at the first level, which is the Natural Ability Test.  Segar will now begin the next level of his training in preparation for the Utility Test, in the hope of ultimately qualifying for the Invitational Test. The Invitational is the culminating achievement test for  which “Only those dogs that have achieved a Prize I in Utility are eligible. This limits the entry to exceptional animals who have demonstrated a high level of training and tests their skills in the advanced work.”
